Being a UX and UI designer in the competitive field with AI as my ally.
The journey to how I was able to lead a team through a week of competing in a UI hackathon not only landed a client for future works but also helped to make connections with other major students( maths and psychology) while also getting mentored by a successful professional in this field, credibility matters most in any business as if you don’t have goodwill and clear communication with your client chances are you won’t be able to be able to earn a high income through this field.
So, your SEO matters, in today’s market selling a good product is not enough how you market is the key to finding success, this is why people pay to get verification ID on their social media and pay ad campaigns to boost audience growth and reach.
Thus, my job isn’t just to make a good-looking UI that’s aesthetic and pretty but to diagnose the reasoning as to why someone would click and read through their website, posters, brochure, business card or social media banners user experience lays deep into everything, from how a chair feels to why a door doesn’t always function well for its users(Don Norman: quote).
Now, to dig deeper into how UX helps designers make optimal design decisions by answering your (clients) goal, what your clients need, and what matters to you in servicing, it’s like being an artist on behalf of your brand (least in my opinion).
As user experience is also about branding if you know what the audience wants from you there my job is to mediate that information clearly and sufficiently to my audience, whether it is through the social media banner or website CTA placed right where it will get the most clicks, (nike site/Zara) site example.
I have been designing user interfaces since 2020 and in these short few years, I can say much of my job has become clearer, refined and amplified than ever, not just because of experience and confidence in my design decision but also because of the rate in completion of each project. Being a neurodivergent person perfection is like an itch to me and with AI being my friend completion has become a habit, despite the slow pace with high intensity jumping from one creation to another without thinking twice about how to start on that task it is like a key that unlocks your potential to indulge in that job you love but don’t also want to waste time ineffectively, now copywriting is easy as looking up that topic getting a general summary about that topic, rather than copying one design one by one now with gen AI it can be replicated and applied differently to your works easily, effectively and fast-tracked.
Learning the fundamental process of dressing is the main component of becoming a designer and having a clear set of psychology to what is good design, what AI does is help me fast-track making 2 websites in 1 week possible because of having a clear idea of how I can approach this problem with a clear set of allies on my shoulders ready to always help me out when I need it. Finally, my challenges to the class of thinking in the times when smartphones didn’t exist just when it came out lots of Blackberry fans denied its growth as it was too tedious and slowed their typing speed, now the same concept applies to not using a AI when design something that doesn’t exist you would think pencil and pen is the way but in 30years time in my opinion it would be a voice prompt to AI generating your thinking into existence.
